Dental Implants
Our smiles are the first thing people notice about us. Having a missing tooth brings unwanted attention to our mouths. Missing teeth can be the cause of low self-esteem, eating difficulties and can even affect speech. Luckily, modern technology and advancements in the dental industry have provided us with a long-term solution: Dental implants.
What they are and how they work:
- A dental implant is a titanium screw inserted in the jaw.
- These are then used as a base to hold either a crown, bridge, or denture.
- Dental implants have become the reliable choice over 30 years for replacing single or multiple teeth.
- The screw bonds with your jawbone, ensuring a sturdy and lasting solution. With proper care, they can last a lifetime, restoring your smile, and your confidence.
At Spondon, Dr Dannick Jethwa, with specialised training from Cambridge, skillfully handles dental implant procedures using the reputable Nobel Biocare or Neodent implant system by Straumann which are some of the best out there today.

FAQ's
No. Once the implant site has fully healed and the implant has integrated with the jawbone, they should feel just like natural teeth.
The process can span over several months as there are multiple stages including the initial consultation, implant placement surgery, healing period, and finally placement of the final crown or restoration.
While they do offer more stability, you do not have to get dental implants. It is a matter of preference.
While you do not have to rush to decide it is recommended that you do not prolong it too much as this can result in bone loss and surrounding teeth may begin to drift into the gap.
